Scanning Seti

Collaboration with Factum Foundation

Scanning Seti: The Regeneration of a Pharaonic Tomb was an immersive experience that transported the visitor to the most magnificent tomb of the Valley of the Kings in Luxor through the use of cutting-edge technology, 1:1 scale, perfect facsimiles and original objects. This was a profoundly moving and erudite reflection on the past, our cultural history, how it can speak to us and how it is preserved.

The intention of the design was to bring the visitor into direct, visceral contact with the content of the show. The senses were used to engage in a primary and profound response to the subject. The exhibition took over the entire ground floor and courtyard of the Antikenmuseum to create a labyrinthine route through multiple spaces that move from dark into lightness. At the core was the journey through the underworld, the symbolic transformation over twelve hours from death to rebirth.
