The Frontline Club (London, 2008)
Frontline is a public restaurant, private members club, forum and exhibition space in Paddington, London which focuses on conflict reporting and champions independent journalism. Discussions and debate are held in the forum space and broadcast live via the club’s website. Past participants include Julian Assange, John Simpson, Robert Fisk, Jeremy Paxman, Jeremy Bowen, Christina Lamb, the late Benazir Bhutto, Boris Berezovsky and the late Alexander Litvinenko.
Skene Catling de la Peña has been involved with the Frontline Club since its inception. They designed the scheme for the Paddington site, negotiated planning, change of use and licensing with Westminster, and developed the scheme to tendering. Skene Catling de la Peña have an ongoing relationship with Frontline, are currently re-working their original premises and graphic identity, and will design further sites for them as they develop. There is an existing sister club in Kabul, Afghanistan, and plans for one in Berlin, New York and the Far East.
