Skene Catling de la Pena

Wedgwood (London, 2004)

Skene Catling de la Peña were asked to prepare a feasibility study for Wedgwood, looking at various aspects of the brand from the deisgn of their two key London sites, in Regent Street and the Piccadily Arcade, to the development of a ‘tea shop’ and prototype to be rolled out globally, and the development of a Wedgwood Museum Concept.

SCDLP spent time going through the archives which date back to the mid 18th Century, and developed a series of schemes which incorporated ancient (and dying) techniques in a modern language. Included were proposals for collaborations with contemporary sculptors and artists for the fit outs of the two key London sites, and the use of the signature Black Basalt, Jasper Ware and bone China as architectural materials.
